Peony Season and Gloomy Summer Blues

Finally, the queens of my garden have popped open. And do they look amazing, but also their scent is incredible! And there were so many I even snagged myself a few to have in my kitchen.

It is such a luxury to pick flowers from your garden. And I didn’t even know what flowers I had because this is my first summer in this house. I bought it last September, so I have mostly seen it in winter. It was so much fun to experience spring here and now summer!

This summer (and spring) has been very gloomy and rainy. Growth season is going to be very short, and some plants are blooming for only the shortest time. Which is very upsetting because I was very excited to grow vegetables and flowers in my garden this year. However, we will take it for what it is and plan for a bigger and better next year! I do have big plans for next summer. I will soon start prepping for next year’s vegetables and flowers, planning what seeds I need, etc.

Due to the weather, I have personally felt very tired all spring and summer. I am not the tanning kind of person in any way, but the lack of sunlight has affected me as well. Mostly, of course, because Finland is dark for most of the year anyway.

After a long, gloomy winter, all of the light is so welcome to recharge for the next one, but this year it will fall short, unfortunately. I am thinking of prepping better for winter this time, and of course, stock up on cozy autumn and winter activities and recipes to brighten my days. I also need to get my iron levels checked out, because I think they are not quite where they should be, as it is for many women.

My Pinterest boards are flooding with gardening ideas as well as cozy recipes for fall that I want to try, so I am excited for autumn as well. I am definitely in my romanticizing life era and trying to find joy in everyday life. It certainly helps to have a lovely garden, and I will start working more on the house interiors as well. Especially the kitchen is in desperate need of love and attention, as it is original from the sixties :D

Let’s see what the rest of the summer brings! I hope for more pretty flowers at least <3
